What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way of  getting the latest updates from your favorite Web sites and blogs in one location. The updates are delivered as RSS feeds and are viewed in a separate RSS reader program, an RSS reader website or in an application built-in to your Web browser. Yahoo! has a list of RSS Readers or Google ”RSS Readers”.

It is easy and free to get started using RSS feeds with a website RSS reader.

First, set up an account. Google Reader, Bloglines, Newsgator, and My Yahoo! are good places to start.

Next, subscribe to some feeds. Go to the sites and blogs you like. Look for links and icons like “XML,” “feed,” “syndication,” RSS feed-icon-14x14 or “RSS”.  Once you find one of these links or icons on your favorite site, click on it and the page that appears will give you everything you need to subscribe to it.
